The Philippines' lone contender to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Asa Miller, is in high spirits ahead of the competition.

Philippine chef de mission to the Winter Games and National Golf Association of the Philippines' Bones Floro said Miller is excited to compete again in the Winter Games.

"He's in very high spirits. He's been telling me that he's excited for the past four years since his first stint in PyeongChang," Floro said in a virtual forum with the Philippine Sportswriters Association on Tuesday.

Miller will compete in two events, slalom and giant slalom, which will be held on February 16.

He also competed in the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics. This will be his second Olympic stint.

"He's very passionate about the sport and he's so proud to represent our country," Floro said.

Asked about Miller's chances for an Olympic medal, Floro said, "It may or may not happen, but whether it does happen or not, alam natin na he's gonna give his best to represent the country."

"The mere fact na Olympian siya at nakaka-inspire siya ng mga younger na Pilipino, dun pa lang panalo na tayo."

The Winter Olympics will open on February 4, with the Philippines being represented by a lean delegation.

Aside from Floro, Miller and his coach, the Philippine delegation includes Philippine Alpine Ski and Snowboard Federation President Jim Abelar, COVID-19 liaison officer Nikki Cheng of Skating, and welfare officer Joebert Yu of Esports. Miller's father, Kelly, is also in Beijing.
