RSG takes down Onic to solidify grip on Top 2 spot in MPL PH S9

By JOHN EDISON UBALDO

RSG Philippines recovered from a sweep at the hands of TNC Pro Team a day prior with a sweet 2-1 conquest of Onic Philippines in Week 4 of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 9 on Saturday.

The Panda-mentored squad now boasts 13pts courtesy of a 5-2 win-loss card to keep their second spot midway through the season.

In Game 1, Onic, banking on Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol's (Fanny) early game superiority, took a  commanding 5-0 kill lead by the 5th minute but a shutdown on Kairi helped RSG weather the storm to equalize by the midgame.

With the daunted Johnson-Kadita combo of Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy and Jaylord “Hatred” Gonzales working wonders, Onic commanded superior map control and looked poised for an opening win when Baloyskie's set resulted in a 3-0 wipe in the 14th minute. The skirmish resulted in luminous lord take that swept down all RSG inhibitor turrets.

But a 20th minute pick off on Dexter “Exort” Martinez (Eudora) courtesy of another Baloyskie set-up received a massive counter from the RSG side, resulting in a 5-1 wipeout for the reverse opening win, 1-0.

It looked like a sweep was on the way when RSG easily took a 3-0 early game lead on the Game 2 kill tally but Onic refused to concede with Hatred (Selena) leading the charge owing his nifty abyssal arrows.

He finished with a perfect 4-0-6 KDA in the 17-minute equalizer, 1-1.

But Demonkite carried RSG on his back in the decider, finishing with a 3-0-6 KDA to lead his team's 14-4 annihilation of Onic in just 14mins.

Eman “EMANN” Sangco (Brody) provided solid support from the gold lane with a 4-0-4 KDA.

Onic succumbed to their third loss in six matches to settle for 9pts, good for 5th place in the current standings.
