RSG PH on MPL PH S9 conquest: 'Best Team? Teamwork'

By JOHN EDISON UBALDO

It was a cliche of sorts but no one could find fault in how RSG Philippines still considers their own version of "teamwork" as the key ingredient for their dominant MPL Philippines Season 9 playoff run where they dropped only a single match en route to the championship.

"As a wise person from Singapore said: Best team?" Coach Brian "Panda" Lim said before the squad responded with "Teamwork".

"Our players have a very strong mentality and that mentality comes from teamwork," Lim added.

He marvels at how his boys fought as one unit all throughout the season and it was very evident with multiple players getting separate recognitions.

In Week 2, it was Eman "EMANN" Sangco who took the MVP of the week honors followed by the regular season MVP awarded to Dylan "Light" Catipon. Nathanael "Nathzz" Estrologo completed the heist with a Finals MVP award.

The two-time MPL PH champion coach reiterates how everybody on the team, including the reserves, have their own roles to play and are part of the team's success this season. He is proud of how they are supporting each other towards their goal.

"When someone is tired and wants to go down, we're always pushing each other up and that is the best thing about this team," he said.

Indeed despite a tiring campaign mixed with a controversial loss in the penultimate week to Blacklist International, Coach Panda's wards stayed resilient and performed their best in the playoffs thanks to their strong mentality and source of motivation.

"We are not playing for ourselves. We're all playing for each other and everyone who's supporting us, especially our family members."
