Omega survives Orange Esports in 5-game thriller, enters MSC 2022 Top 4

By JOHN EDISON UBALDO

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — The Filipino savage Duane "Kelra" Pillas saved the day for Omega Esports, scoring his third career savage in a 3-2 comeback win against Malaysia's Orange Esports and keeping their championship aspirations alive in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asian Cup (MSC) 2022 on Friday.

With Orange reaching matchpoint, the 17-year-old prodigy went into god mode and led Omega's rampage in Game 4, highlighted by a close out savage killing streak, then continued dominating in Game 5 to arrange a lower bracket semifinals date across Myanmar's Falcon Esports.

Despite Orange securing Muhammad "Garyy" Syafizan's iconic Fanny pick in Game 1, it was Omega who took the lead in the early game. But the Filipinos seemed to have lost steam when the Malaysians converted a 2-1 exchange in the 10th minute into a lord to erase a 2k gold deficit and establish their own 3k net worth lead in a flash.

Omega then retaliated with a 2-0 wipe in the 13th minute but Luk Jun "Valenz" Yip (Moskov) positioned beautifully in a mid lane ambush to score a double kill and fend off the Filipino's inhibitor turret siege.

What ensued was a lengthy baiting game, with Omega using the lord to force mistakes on Orange and was successful in the 26th minute when the MPL Malaysia Season 9 runners'-up committed crowd controls on Joshua "Ch4knu" Mangilog (Chou).

However, they were punished with a 4-0 takedown courtesy of Patrick James "E2Max" Caidic's (Yve) pinpoint launch of real world manipulation and Renz Errol "Renzio" Cadua's (Dyrroth) timely burst on Valenz.

It was a different story in Game 2 though as Orange imposed their will from the get go, banking on Garry's (Fanny) 5th minute 3-0-1 KDA to take control and used a 10th minute 3-1 exchange to secure the lord.

The Malaysians did not waste time then caught Ch4knu (Chou) out of position to force a pick off in the 12th minute.

Garry then followed it up with a finesse siege play in the middle lane to tear down three Omega players to low HP, leading to a 3-0 wipe for the equalizer, 1-1.

With momentum on their side, Orange countered Raizen's Fanny pick in Game 3 with a Paquito jungler pick who had a stellar 4-0-1 KDA by the 7th minute.

Omega tried to mount numerous rallies throughout the game, winning team fights after the other as well as fending off Malaysia's base turret siege.

They finally equalized on the net worth by the 18th minute but Raizen was caught by Aimin Zairie "Minn" Bin Anuar (Chou) that helped Orange secure the luminous lord to reach match point.

But the defending champs was not to be outdone as Kelra went god mode in Game 4, starting with a triple kill in the 3rd minute to quickly snowball then completed a savage in the 13th minute to force a rubber match with a dominant win.

The Filipino savage finished with a near-perfect 10-1-4 KDA to lead Omega's 18-4 domination of Orange in Game 4.

They did not let up in Game 5 as Joshua "Ch4knu" Mangilig provided excellent set-ups in the early game to help establish a 4th minute 7-1 kill lead.

They needed just a 13th minute lord to complete the comeback win.
