Conor McGregor eyeing MMA comeback later this year, says UFC President

Former two-division UFC world champion Conor McGregor is looking to make a comeback later this year, if not the first quarter of 2023, according to UFC President Dana White.

McGregor, 33, is coming off back-to-back defeats at the hands of former UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier.

He last saw action in July 2021 at UFC 264 where he suffered a first-round technical knockout after he suffered a freak injury during the fight that saw him snap his leg.

“Conor is looking to come back at the end of this year or early next year. When I do talk to Conor, Conor wants to fight,” White told The Jim Rome Show.

“Conor gets all kinds of offers for movie roles and all these other things that he could do and make money. He does not want to do any of that. Conor wants to fight.”

The Irish mixed martial arts superstar, who holds a record of 22-6, is slowly on his way back to recovery and often posts videos on social media doing boxing training.

While there were rumors that he might fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. again but this time in an exhibition, White guaranteed that his ward’s next fight would be in mixed martial arts.

“It would be in the cage,” White quipped.
