5-year-old girl becomes youngest Pinoy to win jiu-jitsu world championship

A five-year-old girl has just become the youngest Filipino world champion in jiu-jitsu.

According to Oscar Oida's report on "24 Oras," Monday, Aleia Aielle Aguilar won the title after beating her Brazilian opponent in the 2022 Abu Dhabi World Jiu-jitsu Championship in the United Arab Emirates last weekend.

Aleia is the daughter of Alvin Aguilar, who is considered the father of mixed martial arts in the Philippines, and former world jiu-jitsu champion Maybelline Masuda.

Despite watching so many fights as the founder of URCC, Alvin admitted that he found it difficult to watch his baby girl fight.

"She called me up and she said, 'Papa I'm gonna show you my gold medal later OK.' I was like, 'Wow, OK,'" he said.

"She was confident that she produced, that she did a flawless performance and nobody scored on her. I'm very, very happy."
