Ginebra selects Akosi Dogie as top overall pick in first-ever PBA Esports Draft

Well-known gaming personality Setsuna "Akosi Dogie" Ignacio was selected the top overall pick by Barangay Ginebra during the first-ever PBA Esports Bakbakan Draft held Monday at the Robinsons Manila.

Akosi Dogie was among the influencers and ex-professional Mobile Legends: Bang Bang players to join the tournament, which will see several PBA players, fans, and students be pitted against each other in a single round robin format.

Long-time ML:BB Professional League (MPL) Philippines star Billy "Z4pnu" was picked second by TNT while Eric "Eruption" Tai and Lhea "Lhea B" Bernardino went to Magnolia and Terrafirma, respectively, for the third and fourth picks.

Blackwater chose Edgar "ChooxTV" Dumali for the fifth pick as ex ML:BB player Renz "Pein" Reyes, Honda Beast, Yurigaming, and former Bren Esports gold laner Mico "Coco" Sampang have been handpicked by NLEX, Phoenix Super LPG, NorthPort, and Meralco.

Rounding out the first round draftees were Okata for Rain or Shine, L3bron for Converge, and Wrecker for the San Miguel Beermen.

After the elimination round, the top four teams will advance to the playoff stage. The tournament, in partnership with Dark League Studios, will be staged every Monday to give way to PBA's regular schedule.
