Weightlifting starts medal haul as fencing, gymnastics also chip in to Philippine medal total

Filipino weightlifters made their debut in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games on Saturday and already copped three silver medals in Cambodia.

Angeline Colonia, Lovely Inan, and John Ceniza claimed silver medals in the women's 45 kg, women's 49 kg, and men's 61 kg events, respectively to open the Philippines' campaign in weightlifting.

Fencers Samuel Tranquilan (men's foil individual) and Ivy Dinoy (women's epee individual) copped silver and bronze medals, respectively, while Alexi Cabayaran added a silver from finswimming's women's 200m bi fins. Gymnast Charmaine Dolar bagged a bronze medal in the women's aerobic individual event.

The Philippines, as of writing, has 37 gold medals, 64 silver medals, and 77 bronze medals to rank sixth with a total of 178 medals in the tally.
