UFC champ Sean Strickland posts video of himself holding man at gunpoint

By JM SIASAT

UFC middleweight world champion Sean Strickland had quite a night.

Amid his preparations for his first title defense against Dricus Du Plessis in the main event of UFC 297 in January, Strickland posted a video on Instagram where he held at gunpoint a man he suspected was trying to steal his car.

In what appears to be home surveillance video, the footage Strickland posted showed a man whose face was blurred taking cover behind one of his vehicles. The MMA fighter, who said he initially thought the stranger was stealing his car, came outside of his house and pointed a gun at the unexpected visitor.

The UFC champ alleged in the post that the man was being pursued by security for domestic abuse.

"The guy was drunk stomping out a girl, a security guard seen it, he jumped in his car and drove off. Security followed him, hit a curb, completely shredded his tire, drove on the rim for a while then jumped out and tried to hide at my house. I initially thought he was stealing my car," he said in the post.

Strickland also said that the man was arrested, though Yahoo Sports said in their report that the Strickland's account of the incident has not yet been verified. MMA Fighting, in another report, said Las Vegas police did not comment on the social media post and told them "a name search for him did not return any results". The website added that "a records request for a police report on the incident was pending".

Strickland, 28-5 as a professional mixed martial artist, is coming off a major upset victory over Israel Adesanya last July.
