La Salle ends Ateneo’s 24-game win streak  


The De La Salle Lady Spikers ended the Ateneo Lady Eagles’ 24-match winning streak in dominating fashion, posting a 25-22 25-14 25-18 in front of a packed SMART-Araneta Coliseum on Saturday.

The Lady Spikers sizzled off their aces, while capitalizing on Ateneo’s slew of errors to take the win.

Team captain Kim Fajardo recorded her career-high 13 points with seven service aces, while Ara Galang and Majoy Baron chipped in 10 markers each. Mika Reyes had nine markers, while Kim Dy surprised with seven more points.

Ateneo stayed atop the standings with a 6-1 win-loss card, while La Salle grabbed second at 5-1.

Alyssa Valdez was the only Lady Eagle in double figures with 11 points, while Jhoana Maraguinot had eight. Bea De Leon only had six.

In the earlier match, the Adamson Lady Eagles cruised past the UE Lady Warriors, 25-22 25-22 25-19. Jessica Galanza led Adamson with 15 markers, all of kills, while Mylene Paat added 13. May Roque, meanwhile, chipped in 10.

Shaya Adorador was the only Lady Warrior in double figures with 13 markers. Adamson improved to 3-4 after the three-set win, while UE ended the first round winless, 0-7.
