PNVF Champions League kicks off on Saturday with women's tournament

The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) on Saturday, November 20, will open the country's first-ever Champions League set to be staged at the Aquamarine Recreational Center Gym in Lipa City, Batangas.

The women's tournament will grace the opening with the games happening from the 20th until the 25th while its men's counterpart is slated from November 25 to December 4.

Six clubs will compete in the women's tourney in single-round robin with the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers, Perlas Spikers, and Baguio Lady Highlanders drawn in Pool A. Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Crossovers, PetroGazz Angels, and California Precision Sports, meanwhile, composed Pool B.

The opening day will see PetroGazz testing its mettle against Baguio in the opening salvo at 10 a.m., while F2 Logistics will take on California Precision Sports at 1:30 p.m.

Chery Tiggo and Tuguegarao Perlas Spikers cap the opening day triple-header at 4 p.m.

“This is the first time that the country is staging its Champions League, which is a staple among members of the International Volleyball Federation or FIVB,” PNVF president Ramon “Tats” Suzara said in a statement.

“And we’re glad that health protocols have eased and we have a very cooperative local government unit in Lipa City.”

The men's tournament is composed of seven clubs as well with Basilan Steel Spikers, Go for Gold-Air Force Aguilas, and Manileno Spikers completing Pool A.

Global Remit, Sabong International Spikers, MRT-Negros, and Team Dasma Monarchs are in Pool B.
