PLDT routs Choco Mucho to clinch third spot

The PLDT High Speed Hitters sealed the third spot after outlasting Choco Mucho in four sets, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-16, in the 2023 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at the PhilSports Arena.

With the win, the High Speed Hitters set up a semifinals duel with Petro Gazz while Creamline and F2 Logistics will go at it in the other bracket.

Mean Mendrez led PLDT with 22 points built on 18 attacks, two aces, and two blocks while team captain Mika Reyes shone with 18 markers highlighted by four rejections.

PLDT improved to 6-2, tying the Cargo Movers at the third spot, while Choco Mucho will wrap up its campaign with a 2-6 card.

Meanwhile, Cignal ended its campaign on a winning note, sweeping Army-Black Mamba, 29-27, 25-19, 25-16.

The HD Spikers leaned on Glaudine Troncoso and Ces Molina who poured in 16 and 15 apiece while skipper Rachel Daquis chipped in 12 as Cignal improved to 3-5.

Army, on the other hand, will exit the conference with a winless record of 0-8
