Petro Gazz stuns Creamline in Game 1, nears PVL crown

Petro Gazz moved on the cusp of the 2023 PVL All-Filipino Conference title after stunning defending champion Creamline in Game 1 with a 25-22, 24-26, 25-23, 26-24 win on Sunday at the MOA Arena.

The Angels will now look to sweep the Cool Smashers on Tuesday, March 28, for Game Two of the series.

Jonah Sabete led Petro Gazz, shining on both ends of the taraflex with a triple-double of 18 points built on 16 attacks and two blocks alongside 10 digs and 15 excellent receptions.

Veteran opposite spike Aiza Maizo-Pontillas dropped 15 markers while Grethcel Soltones and MJ Phillips chipped in 14 apiece.

Creamline got solid outings from usual suspects Jema Galanza and Michele Gumabao eho each exploded for 18 points, but their numbers weren’t enough to lift the Cool Smashers.
