Adamson, UST secure wins ahead of UAAP Final Four matches


Adamson University and University of Santo Tomas secured wins to end their respective elimination round campaigns on Sunday at the UAAP Season 85 women's volleyball tournament at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

The Lady Falcons took down Far Eastern University, 25-22, 26-28, 25-15, 25-17, to officially secure the third spot in the upcoming Final Four matches.

Kate Santiago posted 21 points, while Trisha Tubu added 18 of her own to put the San Marcelino-based squad at 10-4. The Lady Tamaraws, meanwhile, capped their season at 6-8.

The Golden Tigresses, meanwhile, outlasted University of the Philippines, 25-21, 25-20, 22-25, 19-25, 15-6.

Eya Laure posted 28 points on top of 14 excellent digs, while Regina Jurado and Imee Hernandez had 15 and 14 points each to also end their season at 10-4. UP, meanwhile, ended their campaign with only a single win.

With their respective wins, Adamson will go against twice-to-beat National University in the Final Four, while UST will have to hurdle top-seeded De La Salle University in the semifinal games scheduled on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
