Gov't bans spectators of non-contact sports, exercises in GCQ, MGCQ areas

IATF new policy non-contact sports spectators

The government's COVID-19 task force has banned spectators of non-contact sports and exercises in areas under less stringent form of community quarantine.

Covered in the new policy are areas under general community quarantine (GCQ), and modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), according to the resolution passed by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) on Thursday.

Under the IATF guidelines, indoor and outdoor non-contact sports and other forms of exercise include: walking, jogging, running, biking, golf, swimming, tennis, badminton, equestrian, range shooting, and skateboarding.

The wearing of face masks, the maintenance of social distancing protocols, and no sharing of equipment where applicable must be observed to prevent the spread of coronavirus. —LBG, GMA News
