BI ready for influx of holiday season travelers —spokesperson

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Friday said the agency has prepared its operations for the expected influx of passengers coming in and out of the country ahead of the holiday season.

"Masasabi natin na ready na ready na po ang Bureau of Immigration dito sa tinatawag na [influx]. Usually it happens December and January because this is the period na marami ang bumibiyahe because of the holiday season," BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval said at a public briefing.

(We could say that the Bureau of Immigration is ready for the so called influx. Usually it happens in December and January because this is the period where many passengers travel because of the holiday season.)

Sandoval said the current number of passengers has not yet reached the pre-pandemic record, but it continued to increase "little by little."

"As of August 31 we had 3.3 million total arrivals. By the end of the year we are expecting it to rise a little because of the holiday season," she said.

"Naka-deploy na po lahat ng ating mga immigration personnel. All hands on deck na po tayo," Sandoval added.

She said the BI has more than 100 immigration officers that are set to graduate to be deployed by the holiday season. —LBG, GMA News
