Three Chinese nationals were caught by immigration officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport earlier this month holding spurious Canadian visas.
The three were nabbed last Feb. 4 before they were able to board a Philippine Airlines flight for Vancouver.
“They were attempting to board a PAL connecting flight to Vancouver, Canada when they were intercepted by our immigration officers,” Immigration Commissioner Ricardo David said.
Immigration officials believe the three Chinese nationals were using Manila as a transit point to gain illegal entry to Canada.
BI acting intelligence chief Atty. Ma. Antonette Mangrobang said the three arrived from Hong Kong on a PAL flight, and attempted to board the PAL flight to Vancouver after a few hours.
The three were identified as Yang Xiaomei, Zhu Xinbin and Shen Fengzhou.
They are now detained at the Bureau of Immigration jail in Bicutan, Taguig.
As soon as the exclusion and blacklist orders against them are issued, the three will be sent back to China, said Mangrobang.
Meanwhile, David also announced the appointment of Benito Se, a longtime immigration supervisor at NAIA, as the new acting chief of the BI’s airport operations division.
He replaces Lina Pelia who has been transferred to the BI Commissioner’s office. –KG, GMA News
