Metro Manila workers to get P30 wage hike
Workers in Metro Manila are getting a P30 wage hike in their basic daily pay after the National Capital Region's wage board approved the increase. The wage board also ordered the integration of the P22 cost of living allowance granted last year to the basic pay, radio dzBB reported Friday. But the report said the pay will be given in two installments. The first installment of P20 will take effect after the wage adjustment order is published in a newspaper. The remaining P10 will come after six months. On the other hand, the report said the wage hike did not sit well with the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines, whose spokesman Alan Tanjusay insisted on a P90 wage hike. Tanjusay said the wage board should have considered "supervening events" like higher tuition and power rates. — LBG, GMA News
