The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority's number coding scheme will remain in effect Monday despite the heavy rain that had flooded some areas in the metropolis.

In a radio interview, MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino also reminded his men to continue going after jaywalkers and traffic violators despite the bad weather conditions.

"Hindi kailangan alisin ang number coding," Tolentino told dzBB radio.

Under the number coding scheme, vehicles with plate numbers ending in 1 and 2 are barred from Metro Manila's major thoroughfares from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Tolentino cited initial reports reaching him indicating several areas in Metro Manila were flooded, including Quezon Avenue and EDSA Balintawak.

Meanwhile, Tolentino said his men will continue to go after traffic violators despite the bad weather conditions.

"Tuloy ang ating anti-jaywalking campaign ngayon," he said. — RSJ, GMA News
