In a text message to reporters on Tuesday, SM spokesperson Perkin So said: “Two construction workers of Aluform, an SM Aura contractor, were injured and immediately brought to the hospital.”

In a separate telephone interview, So told GMA News Online that the incident happened late Tuesday afternoon, while the laborers were doing work on the mall’s façade at about the second level.

“Aluform management is now attending to the victims' needs,” he added, citing that the workers were rushed to St. Luke’s Medical Center.

SM Aura is SM Prime holdings, Inc.’s 47th mall. With a gross floor area of 234,892 square meters, it incorporates office towers, a chapel, a convention center, and a mini-coliseum.

Apart from flooding and other construction woes, SM Aura is also facing a legal battle as a government agency – the Bases Conversion and Development Authority – claimed that the mall was illegally built on a land supposedly meant "for civic use." — BM, GMA News
