Juan Luna Building, location of National Archives, affected by Binondo fire

The fire that began in a building in Binondo, Manila on Monday had spread to the Juan Luna Building where the National Archives is housed, according to a tweet by Super Radyo dzBB's Cecil Villarosa.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and fire volunteers shifted their focus to putting out the fire in the said building, Villarosa reported on Dobol B sa News TV.

Though the blaze remains strong as of posting time, BFP personnel were able to use the nearby Pasig River for their water cannons.

As of the time of the report, four buildings including the partially-burned Moraga Mansion, a residential building, and the BPI Building, were affected by the blaze.

The fire began past midnight at the Land Management Bureau Building and quickly spread to the BPI Building.

Fire quickly spread since the buildings were located close to each other. —Rie Takumi/KG, GMA News
