7 Chinese men nabbed for kidnapping, serious illegal detention

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested seven Chinese citizens on allegations that they kidnapped a fellow Chinese for ransom.

Operatives arrested Liu Shenghui, Deng Shuijin, Xiong Jinxiang, Xiong Jonpeng and Xiong Jilong in Parañaque City and Chen Yiguo and Luo Gen Jin in Pasay City last Sunday, the NBI said Tuesday.

The bureau said Jian Shi Xin, the alleged victim, told agents he was abducted at hotel-casino complex Okada Manila in Parañaque, then detained and beaten at Balagtas Royale Mansions, a residential condominium, in Pasay.

The victim was released Sunday after his brother paid ransom of P200,000, the NBI said.

Five of the alleged kidnappers were found at the condominium unit where Jian said he was detained and the other two at Solaire Resort and Casino in Parañaque, the bureau reported.

Jian positively identified the seven as his kidnappers, the NBI said. They face charges for kidnapping and serious illegal detention before the Pasay prosecutor's office. —Dona Magsino/NB, GMA News
