MMDA K-9 rescue dog Farah passes away

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) K-9 Corps announced on Facebook that one of its hero rescue dogs, Farah, passed away on Tuesday.

"Today we lost a seasoned veteran. With a successful live find under her belt, Farah demonstrated obedience and willingness to work under the intense stress and pressure of deployment," the post read.

"We will miss working and training with you. We know that you will get a hero's welcome in heaven. Thank you Farah for your service," it added.

Farah was among the rescue dogs of the MMDA Search and Rescue Unit who searched through the rubble of the collapsed Chuzon Supermarket in Porac, Pampanga following a magnitude 6.1 earthquake last April.

Netizens expressed sadness at the passing of Farah, thanking the hero dog for her selfless service.

The MMDA K9 Corps said it is continuously looking for volunteers to train with them. There is an upcoming orientation in January 2020, the agency said. —KG/LA, GMA News
