OVP opens dorms for health workers, frontliners amid COVID-19 pandemic

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) Leni Robredo has opened a dorm for health workers and other frontliners amid the enhanced community quarantine amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement, the OVP said that the dormitory located in Cubao, Quezon City, has eight bedrooms with respective comfort rooms and can accommodate up to 14 people.

Each room has a mattress, pillow, blanket, an electric fan, and a garbage bin.

“This is open to health workers, medical practitioners, and other frontliners like security guards, as well as other volunteers of programs related to our collective response against COVID-19,” the OVP said.

The OVP said that such program is in response to the public clamor since President Rodrigo Duterte’s imposition of enhanced community quarantine in Luzon to battle the COVID-19 pandemic has banned mass transport and imposed curfews to reduce foot traffic.

“Given the limited space in line with social distancing measures, requests are accommodated on a first come, first served basis,” the OVP added.

The OVP added that the initiative was made possible thru donations from Jay Ignacio of the Rotary Club of San Juan del Monte, Spouses of Rotary Club of San Juan North, and Matrix Appliances PH.
