QC barangay captain faces censure for staging a parade amid ECQ
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte sought an explanation from a barangay captain in Libis for allowing a parade to be held amid the enhanced community quarantine, the city government said on Sunday.
In a Facebook post, the LGU said the show-cause order dated Saturday was sent to Libis barangay captain Leny Leticia Glivano.
“In an order dated April 11, Belmonte asked Gilvano to explain within 24 hours from receipt of the order why she should not be punished for her action," the Quezon City government said.
“Belmonte said holding a parade was a violation of the strict prohibition against mass gatherings implemented by both national and local governments to combat the spread of COVID-19,” it added.
As of Saturday, Quezon City recorded 764 cases of COVID-19, 60 fatalities, and 45 fatalities. — DVM, GMA News
