Parañaque to close cemeteries, columbariums during Undas

Parañaque is the latest city to order a closure of its cemeteries and columbarians in the coming Undas, or All Saints Day and All Souls Day amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

According to Jhomer Apresto’s report on Super Radyo dzBB on Friday, the city government issued Executive Order No. 2020-052 ordering the closure of both private and public facilities from Saturday, October 31 to Monday, November 2 as part of efforts against the COVID-19.

Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez advised the public to pray for the souls of their deceased loved ones from their homes or to visit their tombs before the designated date.

Several cities in Metro Manila have already ordered the closure of their cemeteries during Undas holidays, including Manila, San Juan, and Mandaluyong.

Meanwhile, the National Task Force against COVID-19 will recommend that the public be prohibited from visiting cemeteries during Undas due to the COVID-19 pandemic. -Joahna Lei Casilao/MDM, GMA News
