Manila Cathedral reopens doors after months of closure due to COVID-19 threat
The Manila Cathedral reopened its doors to the faithful on Wednesday, September 16, after being closed for six months due to the COVID-19 threat.
"WE ARE EXCITED TO WELCOME YOU HOME! Tomorrow, September 16, we will reopen the Manila Cathedral to the public. Please be reminded of our schedule and guidelines for the celebration of Masses. Come home!" the cathedral said in its Facebook post.

Visitors must wear face masks and face shields at all times, the cathedral said.

Only 80 persons or 10% of the venue capacity will be allowed to attend each Mass in accordance with the government's guidelines on religious gatherings during general community quarantine. First come first served basis will be followed.
The Mass schedule is as follows:
- Monday to Friday: 7:30 a.m. and 12:10 p.m.
- Saturday: 7:30 a.m.
- Sunday: 8 a.m., 10 a.m., and 6 p.m.
Visitors will have to have their body temperature checked and fill out a contact tracing form, according to a report by Jonathan Andal on GMA News' Unang Balita on Wednesday.
Each visitor will be given a seat number.
Only three persons will be allowed per pew, and the row behind an occupied pew should be left vacant.
No choir will be allowed, but a soloist and an organist may provide the music during the Mass.
The number of songs during the Mass will be lessened. During the "Peace be with you" portion of the Mass, no kiss or handshake will be allowed.
The confessional box will also be closed, and confession will be conducted will be held in the pews.
Weddings and baptism may be held but visitors will be limited to 50.
Meanwhile, the cathedral will be open from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 to 5 p.m. for those who would like to say private prayers. —KG, GMA News
