3.8M Meralco customers no electricity for indefinite number of days —spox
Some 3.8 million Manila Electric Company customers will have no electricity for an undetermined number of days after strong winds and rains from Typhoon Ulysses knocked down power lines and toppled electric posts in the company's service areas.
In an interview on Super Radyo dzBB, Meralco spokesman Joe Zaldarriaga said that huge swathe of their service area is affected by damage to their power lines wrought by Ulysses.
"As of 5 a.m. aabot sa 3.8 million Meralco customers ang apektado at medyo malawak ang area," Zaldarriada told dzBB.
Asked if he had an idea how long will it take the company to restore their service, Zaldarriaga said he did not know because Meralco is still assessing the scope of the damage. "Sa tingin ko matatagalan pa," he said.
Ulysses has dealt great damage "maraming poste ang na-damage, di ko pa alam kailan maaayos," he added.
Earlier in its Facebook post, Meralco appealed to affected residents to help in reporting brownouts.
