Some COVID-19 beds in some NCR hospitals either full or almost full


COVID-19 beds of some hospitals in Metro Manila and nearby provinces are either already full or almost full amid the threat posed by the more contagious Delta variant of COVID-19.

According to Joseph Morong's report on "24 Oras" on Monday, some patients at the Philippine General Hospital lie in corridors while waiting for a vacant bed.

The Far Eastern University Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation is already at full capacity.

In Sta. Ana Hospital in Manila, many patients are waiting outside just to be admitted.

In a public hospital in Dasmariñas, Cavite, oxygen tanks are on high demand.

Meanwhile, the Lung Center of the Philippines is almost at full capacity.

"The past few days, exponential 'yong taas ng kaso. Right now, we have one or two available beds," LCP spokesperson Dr. Norberto Francisco said.

Latest data from the government showed that the ICU bed capacity of the country is at 71%.

Nationwide, cases of COVID-19 reached 1,755,846 with 1,618,808 recoveries and 30,366 deaths. —Ma. Angelica Garcia/NB, GMA News
