The number of areas placed under granular lockdown in the National Capital Region has gone down from 240 to 239 as of Sunday, based on the data from the Philippine National Police (PNP) released on Monday.

According to the PNP, these lockdown areas in Metro Manila were reported in 152 barangays.

These areas include 153 houses, 36 streets, 32 residential buildings, four residential building floors, and four subdivisions or villages.

The PNP has deployed 751 personnel and 870 force multipliers to ensure security and adherence to minimum health standards in the concerned areas.

At the Palace briefing, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairperson Benhur Abalos said a total of 2,774 families were affected by the granular lockdowns as of Saturday.

Earlier, Metro Manila Council (MMC) head and Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez said the presence of one COVID-19 case will be enough to impose a lockdown on a house or a condominium floor.

To impose a lockdown on an entire street, he said there should be at least two COVID-19 cases.

Granular lockdowns are micro-level quarantine for areas classified as "critical zones" by the local government unit (LGU). According to officials, granular lockdowns could be implemented on a house, compound, street or building with high cases of infections.
