The COVID-19 positivity rate in Quezon City has decreased to 2%, within the recommendation of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, independent monitoring group OCTA Research announced Wednesday.

In a requested report, OCTA said this was over a seven-day average of 3,381 tests.

“The RT-PCR testing positivity rate in Quezon City decreased to 2%, which is within the CDC recommendation of less than 3% and is considered very low,” it said.

OCTA also reported that the 7-day average of new cases in the city decreased to 63, the lowest since January 2 to January 8, while it recorded a one-week growth rate of -54%.

The city has an average daily attack rate of 1.98 per 100,000 per day.

Meanwhile, OCTA said Quezon City has a reproduction number of 0.43 as of November 20.

The reproduction number refers to the number of people infected by one case. A reproduction number that is below 1 indicates that the transmission of the virus is slowing down.

The city has a COVID-19 hospital bed occupancy of 40% while ICU occupancy is at 56%.

Quezon City is classified as low risk for COVID-19, according to the group.

“The goal for Quezon City is to continue vaccinations, testing, contact tracing and isolation, and for the public to continue complying with minimum public health protocols to sustain the gains and further decrease new COVID-19 cases to less than 30 per day before Christmas holidays,” it said.

OCTA said the report does not reflect the position of the Department of Health, the Inter-Agency Task Force, and local government units.
