Active COVID-19 cases in Pasig City was down to 34; with 59,354 total cases logged; 57,854 recoveries; and 1,466 deaths, the city government said on Monday.

“Tayo naman, lahat ng pwedeng gawin, lahat ng kayang gawin, hindi dahil sa magaling tayo kundi siguro naging maagap tayo. ‘Pag may nakita tayong best practice mula sa ibang lokal na pamahalaan, ina-adopt din natin ‘yon mula’t umpisa,” said Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto during the city government’s flag raising ceremony.

(For us, we do everything we can do, not because we are great but because we are proactive. We adopt the best practices that we see in other local government units from the very start.)

He added that the city drew inspiration from Marikina's molecular laboratories, as well as Valenzuela's contact tracing app, on top of the centralized quarantine facility and COVID-19 referral center that they have established.

He however said that Pasig residents must not be complacent given the threat from the Omicron COVID-19 variant.

“Ginawa natin lahat ang ng makakaya natin. At ngayon, hopefully, nasa dulo na tayo ng pandemiya, huwag tayong maging kampante,” Sotto said.

(We did everything that we could. Now, hopefully, we are at the end of the pandemic, let’s not be complacent.)

Further, Sotto reminded aspirants for the 2022 national and local elections, as well as their supporters, that posting or attaching election-related paraphernalia in public spaces was not allowed in the city.

“Kapag sa mga poste natin at sa mga footbridge natin, mga ilaw natin at iba pa nating public property, hindi po talaga pwede. Hindi naman talaga magandang tignan at hindi naman talaga tama kaya tanggalin natin,” he said.

(It is not allowed on our light posts, footbridges, and other public property. They are not really pleasant to look at and are not really proper, so let’s remove them.)

He also urged Pasig government personnel to be professional and be non-partisan during the election period. He reminded them not to join any election-related activities, may it be for Sotto himself or other candidates.

“Bilang kawani na regular o casual, sumunod po tayo sa civil service rules at sa election-related laws, rules, and regulations natin,” he added.

(As regular or casual staff, let’s observe the civil service rules and also our election-related laws, rules, and regulations.)
