The National Capital Region is heading to a good holiday season this year as it reports 105 new COVID-19 cases per day from December 1 to 7, independent monitoring group OCTA Research said Wednesday.

The region also reported a reproduction number of 0.34, slightly lower than the 0.35 reproduction number recorded during the November 29 to December 5 period.

The reproduction number refers to the number of people infected by one case. A reproduction number that is below 1 indicates that the transmission of the virus is slowing down.

Meanwhile, the average daily attack rate in the region stood at 0.74 per 100,000.

OCTA said NCR also recorded a positivity rate of 1.1%, meeting the benchmark of both the World Health Organization and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

At present, NCR and 11 local governments are classified as very low risk.

These are Malabon, Navotas, Caloocan, Pateros, Valenzuela, Marikina, Manila, Parañaque, Pasay, Las Piñas, and Mandaluyong.

Meanwhile, Muntinlupa, Makati, Quezon City, Pasig, Taguig, and San Juan were classified as low risk.

The Philippines was recently classified as minimal risk for COVID-19.

In a disclaimer, the OCTA said the report does not necessarily reflect the position of the Department of Health, the Inter-Agency Task Force, and other local governments.—AOL, GMA News
