Job order, contract of service workers in Manila to receive P5K cash aid —Isko

Job order workers and those under contract of service in Manila will receive financial assistance worth P5,000, Mayor Isko Moreno said Friday.

Moreno has signed Ordinance No. 8797, which seeks to grant financial aid to job order workers, those under contract of service, and other similar schemes in the city government.

The ordinance provides funds worth P51,150,000.

Those who are eligible to get the financial assistance will each receive P5,000.

Moreno also approved the 2022 budget for the special education fund, which amounts to P2,556,546,510. The budget was approved during his meeting with the Local School Board, attended by Division of City Schools (DCS) Superintendent Dr. Magdalena Lim and other officials of DCS, last week.

The portion of the budget will be allocated for the reconstruction of the Ramon Magsaysay High School as it is aimed to be transformed into a 10-storey building with 232 classrooms.

At least 12 other schools across the city will also be repaired, Moreno said.

"I always wanted the best for our people. It doesn't have to be bigger but better in terms of facilities. This type of school will be built as if this is a private school. Dapat ito ang maging model ng private education system," said Moreno, who is running for president in the 2022 elections.

Aside from the reconstruction of the school, extending the load allowance of teachers and students is also included in the budget in order to continue assisting the education sector in the distance learning scheme amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Moreno, the standard bearer of Aksyon Demokratiko, also approved the free annual medical consultation of about 11,000 teachers of the Division of City School of the nation's capital.

"We are ahead of our time again which is good. Rest assured that we will continue to address the future of the education of our students in the city," he said. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
