Families are again starting to have more than one member contracting COVID-19 as cases have been steeply increasing over the past week.

According to Mav Gonzales' report on "24 Oras", five persons in the Florentino household got COVID-19 after Christmas.

The first to get sick were the children aged 11, three and one. Their housekeeper was also infected with the ailment.

Their mother said the 11-year-old got symptoms after going out caroling with friends.

She said got the virus because she couldn't follow the health protocols.

"This time around kaya ako nahawa kasi di ako nakasunod sa protocol kasi alam ko yung mga anak ko kailangan ng yakap at halik especially n'ung time na umiiyak sila. 'Di sila umaalis sa tabi ko," the mother said.

The adults at home had mild symptoms as they had been fully vaccinated against the disease. But the mother said she could not help but show her affection to her kids.

In Barangay Isidro, Parañaque, new infections went from zero to 29 cases in a matter of days. These mostly involved children aged 11-year-old and younger, who are unvaccinated and vulnerable to the disease.

Metro Manila shifted to Alert Level 3 from Alert Level 2 until January 15, 2022 as COVID-19 cases continue to spike in the region. —NB, GMA News
