Isko says COVID-19 vaccine supply sufficient in Manila

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Friday said the city's COVID-19 vaccine supply remains sufficient even as the local government unit implements an aggressive vaccination drive.

“I want to reassure the people of Manila na maraming bakuna. Pumanatag kayo mga kababayan sa Lungsod ng Maynila, marami tayong bakuna,” Moreno said after he inspected the Sta. Ana Hospital COVID-19 Vaccine Storage Facility.

(I want to reassure the people of Manila that there are a lot of vaccines. Rest assured, residents of the City of Manila, we have many vaccines.)

More than 300,000 COVID-19 vaccines are stored in the said facility as of Friday noon, the mayor said.

The said current supply consists of about 179,000 doses of Pfizer; 55,000 of Moderna; 38,000 of AstraZeneca; 6,500 of Janssen; and 3,700 doses of Sinovac vaccine, the LGU said.

The Sta. Ana Hospital vaccine storage facility was first established in February 2021, it added.

Vaccination

Meanwhile, the city government said thousands of individuals, Manila and non-residents alike, trooped to Divisoria and the Bonifacio Shrine this week for COVID-19 booster shots.

The Divisoria site conducts the vaccination at night to cater to drivers, vendors and delivery boys, while the Bonifacio Shrine drive-thru site caters to couriers.

Moreno appealed to those who have yet to get their vaccine shots to be jabbed as soon as possible.

“Muli po nanawagan ako bilang ama ng ating Lungsod ng Maynila, magpabakuna kayo sa lalong madaling panahon. Proteksyunan natin ang ating mga sarili, para na rin maproteksyunan ang ating mga mahal sa buhay,” the mayor said.

(I am again issuing an appeal, as father of the City of Manila, for you to get vaccinated at the soonest possible time. Let us protect ourselves, so our loved ones can also be protected.)

Other medicines

Moreno also said the city has enough supplies of remdesivir, tocilizumab, baricitinib and molnupiravir for use in the treatment of COVID-19.

He said those who need them may contact the Manila City Health Department. —KG, GMA News
