QC barangay health operations affected as staff gets COVID-19

Some barangay personnel in Quezon City were forced to work from home after their colleagues fell ill with COVID-19.

According to Saleema Refran's Monday "24 Oras" report, several members of the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team in Old Balara in Quezon City were quarantined as a precautionary measure.

The village reported the highest number of active cases in District III with 565 infections.

Even with a reduced workforce, some decided to continue their work as BHERT personnel.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said the locality recorded 20,402 active cases, mostly from frontline medical and essential workers.

"Delta surge palang ay nagbigay na akong memo sa ating barangay na sana ampunin nila ang ginagawa sa city hall which is team a, team b para 'di maubusan ang personnel ang atin pong local government at serbisyong binibigay," said Belmonte.

(During the Delta variant surge I issued a memo to all village officials to adopt the city hall work scheme, which is to have a team a and team b so that they can still provide services.)

Meanwhile, in Barangay Kaunlaran, Navotas, village personnel provided a Q band to monitor those who are under home quarantine.

A BHERT official in Navotas also asked for patience from the public.

"Sana kaunting intindi lang na huwag magagalit kasi nagsisigawan mga health workers nasisigawan sila," she said.

(I hope they understand and aren't angry with us because they sometimes shout at us.)
