The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said on Thursday that the Binondo-Intramuros Bridge, which was funded by China, will open next month.

In a statement, DPWH said the opening of the bridge to the motoring public will take place during Holy Week in April.

The Binondo-Intramuros Bridge project, one of the flagship infrastructure projects of the DPWH under the Build Build Build program, involves the construction of 680 linear meters bridge connecting Intramuros at Solana Street and Riverside Drive with the district of Binondo at Rentas Street/Plaza del Conde Street and Muelle dela Industria.

The bridge features two-way four-lane basket-handle tied steel arch main bridge. It is seen to cut travel time of approximately 30,000 vehicles daily between the two busy districts of Intramuros and Binondo in Manila.

The P3.39-billion bridge also has dedicated pathways for pedestrians, joggers, and bikers. — VBL, GMA News
