Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno is hoping that the satellite dishes from billionaire Elon Musk's SpaceX would be installed soon for the city's schools, hospitals, and government centers.

The Aksyon Demokratiko presidential candidate earlier met with representatives of SpaceX Enterprise regarding the acquisition of Manila of the Starlink internet broadband.

“Maraming salamat at binigyan nila ng pagkakataon ang Maynila. Mukhang mag-uumpisa na soon. Hinihintay lang namin yung mga regulatory agencies na i-process yung sa side ng Starlink SpaceX,” Moreno said in an ambush interview aired live.

Moreno said the city may deploy 896 dishes for over 100 public schools, elementary, and high schools, two colleges, seven hospitals, 15 police stations, the Manila Police District headquarters, and City hall among others.

“The next plan is kung nag push through yon, e yung initial acquisition natin is for more than 1,000 plus satellite dish, isusunod naman natin dun sa University Belt, para naman pagdating ng araw, meron silang access to fast, reliable, free internet services,” he said.

Moreno was authorized by the Manila council to negotiate with the SpaceX Enterprise “for the use of Starlink, the world’s most advance broadband internet system in the City of Manila.” —NB, GMA News
