Vote buying raps filed vs. QC bet Rose Nono Lin

A total of 237 counts of vote-buying complaints were filed against Quezon City District 5 congressional candidate Rose Nono Lin before the Commission on Elections (Comelec), according to a report by Tina Panganiban-Perez on“24 Oras” on Tuesday.

The complaints were filed by members of the Koalisyong Novalenyo Kontra Korapsyon and Alyansa ng mga Mamamayan ng Bagbag.

“Nagrereport sa amin ang sinasabi nilang ginagawang vote buying sa iba’t ibang headquarters ni Rose Nono Lin sa District 5, so may mga reports na may mga picture yung actual pagkuha ng pera na pinapalabas na scholarship daw ito, ayuda raw ito,” Ted Lazaro of Koalisyong Novalenyo Kontra Korapsyon, said.

(They reported to us the vote buying incident in the different headquarters of Rose Nono Lin. There were reports with pictures of the actual incident of taking the money, which was said to be scholarship, aid.)

Lin is also a stockholder of a company linked

to Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corporation, the firm that was investigated by the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee in connection with the alleged anomalous purchase of medical supplies and equipment by the government at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Syempre kung kumakalam na ang sikmura mo of course you will accept any amount whether you will vote for that candidate or not, tatanggap at tatanggap ka rin, walang kapalit yung kalam ng sikmura,” lawyer Paolo Mabazza, legal counsel of the complainants, said.

Mabazza, however, clarified the complainants were not among those who accepted the money.

GMA News has sought comment from Lin.

Meanwhile, Commissioner George Garcia said two vote buying complaints have been filed in the poll body since the launch of the Task Force Kontra Bigay last week.

“These initial cases are the beginning of everything. A warning to one and all that we have an awakened citizenry with the highest sense of maturity,” Garcia said.

“However, presumption of innocence should never be compromised as mandated by the Constitution,” he added.—Richa Noriega/LDF, GMA News
