PITX: Drivers tested negative in drug test

The Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) on Sunday clarified that drivers using the bus terminal tested negative in drug tests conducted last week.

PITX spokesperson Jason Salvador made the clarification after reports came out that four drivers tested positive in random drug tests, according to a report by Jhomer Apresto on Super Radyo9 dzBB.

However, the said drivers are deployed in another terminal, not PITX, Salvador said.

On Saturday, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said 61 public utility vehicle drivers, conductors, and dispatchers tested positive for illegal drugs ahead of Holy Week.

The PDEA said at least 4,210 individuals underwent screening during the nationwide implementation of the agency’s Oplan Harabas on Friday in light of the expected influx of Holy Week travelers.

Meanwhile, on Palm Sunday, fewer passengers were seen at PITX compared to the previous days.

PITX management said it expects the volume of passengers to increase from Tuesday to Good Friday as people head to the provinces for the Holy Week.

Salvador said in an interview on Super Radyo dzBB that the number of passengers at PITX reached more than 100,000 on Friday.
