Vico Sotto wins another term as Pasig mayor

Reelectionist Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto was proclaimed on Tuesday morning by the City Board of Canvassers as the winner of the mayoralty race in the city.

Sotto garnered 335,851 votes over his rival Iyo Bernardo's 45,604 votes, according to a report by GMA News' Oscar Oida.

 

 

In an interview, Sotto said he just wishes his rival peace of mind.

He said he is also praying that they will just be united in serving Pasig City.

In his speech before city employees on Tuesday morning, Sotto thanked his supporters.

"Malinaw ang tinig ng Pasigueno. Malinaw ang tinig ng buong Pasig. Tuloy ang pagbabago sa lungsod. Paiigtingin pa natin ang mga nasimulan na," he said.

The vice mayoralty race meanwhile was won by Dodot Jaworski over his rivals Junjun Concepcion and Christian Sia.

Asked for comment regarding a possible electoral protest by his rivals, Jaworski said they have the right to file a complaint, and that he is not bothered.

Reelectionist Pasig City Representative Roman Romulo on the other hand was proclaimed winner for the congressman post, besting rivals Ricky Eusebio and Rex Maliuanag.

Romulo said he will continue to focus on education issues while in the House of Representatives.

He also said he will remain independent. —KG, GMA News
