By GISELLE OMBAY,GMA News

The owner of the SUV in the hit and run incident involving a guard in Mandaluyong City has sent surrender feeler, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Monday.

PNP director for operations Police Major General Valeriano de Leon confirmed this in a phone interview with GMA News Online, saying they received the surrender feeler on Monday morning.

“Meron na kaming pangalan at saka address. Nakipag-ugnayan na ‘yung lawyer ng owner [ng SUV],” he said.

(We already have a name and address. The lawyer of the SUV owner has coordinated with us.)

In a separate interview with reporters, De Leon said the lawyer of the SUV owner contacted the investigator of the Mandaluyong Police regarding the hit and run incident Sunday afternoon that injured security guard Christian Joseph Floralde.

With the development, he added they expect the owner will coordinate with the police regarding the investigation and will appear in the police station in the “soonest possible time.”

It is still unknown, however, whether the owner of the SUV was also the driving the vehicle when the incident happened.

De Leon also noted that the suspect may face charges of physical injury resulting in reckless imprudence.

“Sa pagtingin ko nung napanood ko itong nag-trending sa social media, ay mayroong mga aggravating circumstance considering na nadisgrasya mo na nga ‘yung biktima at iyo pang tinakbuhan,” he added.

(In my opinion when I watched the video, there were aggravating circumstances considering that the driver already hit the victim and s/he ran away after.)

The Land Transportation Office-National Capital Region (LTO-NCR) on Monday morning issued a show cause order against the owner of the SUV involved in the incident. The hearing is set on June 7.—AOL, GMA News
