Free antigen test for MRT3 passengers ends on June 30

Free antigen testing for Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT3) passengers will end on June 30, the train management announced.

In an advisory on Thursday, the MRT3 management said passengers can still avail the free antigen testing for COVID-19 until the end of the month at North Avenue and Shaw Boulevard stations from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. and at Cubao and Shaw Boulevard stations from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Passengers were advised to come to testing areas in the said stations and fill in the consent forms provided.

The MRT-3, in cooperation with the Department of Transportation (DOTr), launched the free antigen testing last January 11.

Several MRT-3 passengers subjected to random antigen tests were earlier reported to have tested positive for COVID-19, according to Allan Gatus' report on Super Radyo dzBB last January.

Those who tested positive were not allowed to board the train and were advised to isolate and contact their respective local government units.

Meanwhile, the MRT-3 has extended the free rides until June 30, 2022, anytime during the line’s operating hours from 4:40 a.m. to 10:10 p.m.

The free rides were initially implemented from March 28 to April 30 in celebration of the completion of the MRT3’s rehabilitation. — Richa Noriega/RSJ, GMA News
