Truck driver nabbed for filming woman without consent, posting video on social media

A truck driver was arrested in Pasig City for posting a video of a woman on social media with sexist remarks.

An investigation showed the 34-year-old suspect allegedly filmed the 19-year-old student without her consent while doing her morning exercise in Barangay Ugong, Pasig City. He then posted the video on Facebook with the caption: "pg 2mingin ka brocha ka," a colloquial term that implies a lewd act.

The victim immediately sought the assistance of the Anti-Cybercrime Group-Eastern District Anti-Cybercrime Team (ACG-EDACT) after one of her friends sent her a screenshot of the video making the rounds online.

ACG-EDACT operatives nabbed the suspect on Thursday while in the act of watching the video. He will be charged with violating Republic Act 11313 or the Bawal Bastos Law and Article 287 (unjust vexation) in relation to Section 6 of RA 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act.

“We would like to remind the public to be circumspect and cautious in using their mobile gadgets,” Police Brigadier General Bowenn Joey Masauding, PNP-ACG officer-in-charge, said.

“Please refrain from taking pictures of other people without their consent especially when we intend them to post online, as this may constitute violations of privacy or other relevant laws." —Sundy Locus/VBL, GMA News
