First alarm up over Marikina River, 8 floodgates open

The first alarm was raised at Marikina River as the water level reached 15.2 meters Tuesday afternoon due to heavy rains brought by Severe Tropical Storm Florita.

Marikina's Public Information Office (PIO) said all the eight floodgates are open.

 

Under Marikina City's system, the first alarm will be raised when the water reaches 15 meters. This means "warning."

The second alarm will be raised when water reaches 16 meters, and this means "prepare."

The third alarm, on the other hand, will be sounded when the water level is at 18 meters. This means "evacuate."

Marikina City Rescue 161 is livestreaming the water level.
