QC COVID-19 cases on a downward trend — OCTA

Quezon City remains at moderate risk for COVID-19 though its cases are on a downward trend, independent monitoring group OCTA Research said Friday.

According to OCTA, the seven-day average of cases in the city decreased to 238 from August 19 to 25, 7% lower than the average from August 12 to 18.

OCTA said cases in the city have been declining for two weeks.

“Quezon City remained at moderate risk at this time. Cases are expected to continue on a downward trend, but there are no guarantees,” the report read.

Meanwhile, the average daily attack rate was recorded at 7.47 per 100,000 individuals, which is considered moderate.

Based on the report, the city’s reproduction number, or the number of people infected by one case, also decreased to 1.02 as of August 22 from 1.06 as of August 15.

A reproduction number below 1 indicates that the transmission of the virus is slowing down.

The positivity rate also decreased to 13.5% from 15.5%
