Gov't workers to get free MRT3, LRT2, PNR rides on Sept. 19

Government workers will get free rides in three major railway systems services on Monday, September 19, 2022, the Department of Transportation said Saturday.

In an announcement on Facebook, the DOTr said that train rides in Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT3), Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT2) and Philippine National Railways (PNR) will be free of state workers on Monday.

It said that the free rides offer coincides with the month-long Philippine Civil Service Anniversary celebration as part of the Civil Service Commission’s  “Treats to Government Workers.”

“The free rides offered to our government workers in our major rail lines is the DOTr’s way of honoring them. These civil servants give important contribution and perform indispensable role [in] nation building,” Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista said.

The free rides the government workers can avail in the MRT3 and LRT2 are available from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., and from 5 p.m.  to 7 p.m. only.

Meanwhile, the PNR will give free rides to government employees the whole day, from first to the last trip in all operational routes, subject to the availability of its trainsets.

Government workers must present their IDs as proof of their employment with any government agencies, offices, and instrumentalities to avail of the free rides. —LBG, GMA News
