24 Chinese, Vietnamese women rescued from suspected sex den

Twenty-four foreign women were rescued from a suspected sex den operated by Chinese nationals in Paranaque City.

According to John Consulta's "24 Oras" report, the 10 Chinese and 14 Vietnamese were rescued in an apartment in Baranggay Tambo. Two Chinese nationals who were alleged to be handlers of the sex trafficking group were arrested.

Paranaque chief of police Colonel Rene Ocampo reported that they received a tip regarding suspicious activities in the apartment after foreigners were seen coming in an out.

The victims were allegedly offered decent jobs in their country but ended up  as sex workers.

Police said they are coordinating with the Bureau of Immigration to find out if the rescued women and the suspects have legal documents.

The authorities were also able to recover a phone from the suspects, which will be subjected to the technical investigation of the Anti-Cybercrime Group to obtain other relevant information.—Sherylin Untalan/LDF, GMA News
