COVID-19 positivity rate in NCR dips to 5% — OCTA

The COVID-19 positivity rate in the National Capital Region (NCR) dipped to 5%, according to independent group OCTA research on Thursday.

In a tweet, OCTA research fellow Dr. Guido David said the seven day positivity rate in the region decreased to 5% on January 10 from 7.9% on January 3.

The positivity rate refers to the percentage of people who were found positive for COVID-19 among the total number of individuals tested.

“The last time the positivity rate was below 5% was on June 22, 2022 at the outset of three COVID-19 waves in NCR,” David said.

The OCTA earlier reported that the positivity rates in Luzon areas including Batangas, Bulacan, Ilocos Norte, and Pangasinan decreased to “low” level, meaning they went below the 5% threshold.
